Civil War Military Park – Mississippi Blues Trail – Vicksburg

CIVIL WAR MILITARY PARK
the site of an American Civil War Battle
in Vicksburg

  • Civil War Military Park in Vicksburg is an incredibly well-preserved site of a significant battle from March 29 to July 4, 1863.
  • The park features a one-way road that encircles the entire area, allowing for a scenic drive.
  • Along the way, there are designated areas for pulling over and learning about the historical significance of the park. This will give you a chance to learn more about the war and its impact on Mississippi.
  • Depending on your level of interest in military parks, plan on spending anywhere from 1-2 hours exploring Vicksburg Civil War Military Park.
  • Don’t forget to also visit the nearby U.S.S. Cairo Museum where you can see the recovered and restored river ironclad that sank in the Yazoo River in 1862.

You won’t want to miss this opportunity!

To Confederate President Jefferson Davis,
Vicksburg was the “nailhead that holds the South’s two halves together.”

President Abraham Lincoln remarked “Vicksburg is the key” to victory,
and could be the north’s lifeline into the south.
