Vicksburg’s Quaint Historic Town – Mississippi Blues Trail

VICKSBURG, MS
Vicksburg’s Quaint Historic Town: Exploring this Hidden Gem in Mississippi

Vicksburg’s quaint historic town is a true gem. Located on a high bluff on the east bank of the Mississippi River,
this lovely town is full of history and interesting sights.

  • After spending some time exploring the famous Blues Marker rounds, we decided to check out some other points of interest in town. We arrived in the early afternoon and immediately fell in love with the quaint downtown area.
  • We stumbled upon the Civil War Museum and let me tell you, it’s definitely worth a visit. As someone who loves learning about history, I was blown away by all the artifacts and information they had on display.
  • Next, we made our way to the Coca-Cola Museum which was just a short walk from the Civil War Museum. It may seem like an odd attraction but trust me, it’s another must-see. The walk-through tour takes you through the evolution of Coca-Cola and its impact on American culture.
  • As our day was coming to an end, we made sure to drive down to the river to see the stunning murals that depict Vicksburg’s rich history. These pieces of art are truly impressive and give you a sense of how much this town has been through over the years.
  • Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to visit the history museum at the Old Depot Station as it closed by then.
  • But no worries because we found a perfect spot for dinner – a restaurant on the top floor of First National Bank downtown where we could grab a bite while enjoying a beautiful sunset over Vicksburg.
  • The next morning as we were leaving town, we made sure to stop by Vicksburg’s National Military Park which gave us even more insight into this fascinating town’s past. And the role Vicksburg played in the Civil War.

I highly recommend adding Vicksburg’s Quaint Historic Town to your travel list.
Not only as a blues trail visit but to explore historical sites and points of interest. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
